Growing up on a ranch on the Red Deer River I’ve been involved with the livestock industry my entire life. In 1992, I graduated from the Retail Meat Cutting course offered by SAIT and from there went on to open a small mobile butcher shop specializing in custom cutting and wrapping for beef and pork producers. In 2003, we expanded operations to a government inspected abattoir. We were busy and did many smoked and cured meat products
which led to a greater involvement in the catering industry. In 2011 this led to creation of Badlands Catering Services Ltd. and with the main focus on large events such as Military training actions as well as weddings, reunions, school events/camps and corporate functions for numerous Oil companies just to name a few. In 2019 the decision was made to move operations to Longview, Alberta an area of which I have always dreamed of living and retiring to. It wasn’t long after being in the area that I recognized a demand for custom meat cutting in the area which has now led to the creation of Badlands Butcher Services, a mobile slaughter and cutting wrapping service. Being hands on with Beef production as well as nearly 30 years in the customer service Industry I have the luxury of understanding both the challenges producers face as well as customer expectations when it comes to providing service and product integrity, when it comes to farm to plate.
